Ian S. Takahashi is Los Angeles, CA and Asia based underwater cinematographers, with a career spanning feature films, prestige television, global advertising, and iconic music videos.

His career began under two-time Academy Award–winning cinematographer John Toll, ASC, shaped by a decade of mentorship from legendary underwater DP Mike Thomas. He later met Pete Romano, ASC of HydroFlex.

Known for translating a director's vision into what works in a radically different physical environment, Ian has collaborated with directors James Gunn, Ron Howard, Marc Forster, Nicolas Winding Refn and "The Daniels," alongside DPs including Ben Kutchins ASC, Russel Carpenter ASC, and Jess Hall BSC.

Now actively expanding above water — from Baywatch to Hillbilly Elegy — Ian brings the same precision and artistry to every frame, at any depth.
